The search for a missing New Zealand fisherman in Tasmania will continue on Tuesday, more than two weeks after he and three others were reported missing.

The bodies of three of the four recreational fishermen who went missing in chilly waters off Hobart on July 31 have been identified by police.

Magnus Julian Ritter, 34, and Luke William Davies, 32, were recovered from waters near Sloping Main on August 1, while Aleksandar Drobnjak, 26, was identified on Monday after DNA testing.

The 35-year-old missing New Zealander has not yet been named.

A police vessel equipped with a sonar scan searched waters on Monday, and will resume searching on Tuesday.

The foursome - three from Hobart and one from New Zealand - launched their five-metre boat on the morning of July 31 from Cremorne, southeast of the city.

The alarm was raised by one of their girlfriends when they failed to return as planned six hours later.
