Horrifying footage has emerged of the moment a woman on a busy street in India was stabbed to death by a stalker and no one came to her aid.
The attack, captured by a CCTV camera, shows a man riding up to 22-year-old Delhi school teacher Karuna on a motorcycle, hopping off and stabbing her nearly 30 times.
About a dozen people are seen passing by just metres away from the brutal act of violence, with many either simply watching or passing without another glance.
One man tries to intervene, but is waved away after the man appears to threaten him.
Following the stabbing, Karuna's attacker bashes her on the head with a rock and kicks her, before attempting to flee. Only then was he apprehended by locals.
Police have since charged the man with murder. He had a previous complaint filed against him for stalking Karuna, her family told local media.
Violence against women in India has come under greater scrutiny after the brutal gang rape and murder of a young woman on a Delhi bus in 2012.
