A dangerous driver in the United Kingdom who rang police to demand they stop their pursuit has now been jailed.

West Sussex man Bruce Dewey led police on a 50-minute chase during rush hour earlier this year, and rang 999 to ask officers to stop following him.

He dodged spikes laid to burst his tyres, weaved in and out of traffic, and drove down the wrong side of the road in the chase, the Daily Mail reports.

His request was obviously ignored, and the pursuit ended when police forced his car off the road.

Dewey was sentenced to 15 months in jail, disqualified from driving for three years, and has to pay a victim surcharge of £100.
