Man hit, killed by unmanned plane

A pilot has been killed at an airport in Adelaide's north after being hit by a runaway plane.

The 62-year-old man was standing on the tarmac when he was hit by the light plane, which went on to crash into another small aircraft, just after 4pm Sunday (local time).

"One plane appears to have taxied away after hitting the pilot and then crashed into another plane parked nearby," South Australia police said in a statement.

No one was inside either Cessna aircraft.

"Police will be preparing a report for the State Coroner and the Air Transport Safety Bureau will attend the airport tomorrow to conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tarmac crash," police said.
