UK set to phase out microbeads

The UK looks set to ban microbeads by the end of next year.

Without you even knowing it they may be part of your daily routine - tiny plastic beads used in many toiletries and cosmetics, but which can end up in the sea as a hazard to aquatic life.

A single shower can release 100,000 of them into the ocean, and it's estimated more than 80 tonnes of them are released into the environment in the UK every year from facial exfoliants alone.
