A volcanic ash cloud is again causing problems for travellers, with the cancellation of flights to and from Bali.

Ash has been spewing from volcano Mt Rinjani in Indonesia, and both pilots and meteorologists say it's unsafe to fly.

Jetstar has confirmed several of its flights to Australia are affected. On Tuesday, four flights to Bali were cancelled as well as three flights to Australia.

Virgin and Tigerair passengers are also facing delays, but no flights in or out of New Zealand have been affected.

Jetstar is set to reassess the situation on Tuesday morning, and say anyone expecting to travel to Bali should make their way to the airport.
