A 44-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son have been arrested and charged in the US with incest after allegedly having sexual intercourse with each other.
Melissa Nell Kitchens and her son Shaun Thomas Pfeiffer had sex sometime last month, according to local police.
The Asheville, North Carolina couple each face a felony charge of incest, while Pfeiffer also faces charges of indecent liberties with a child, communicating threats and being intoxicated and disruptive.
Pfeiffer is being held on bail of US$70,500 and has a court date set for September 30. His mother is being held on US$5000 and is due in court on September 29.
Incest in North Carolina carries a sentence of 10 - 41 months in prison.
Both Kitchens and Pfeiffer have active Facebook accounts at the time of publishing. The below photo of Pfeiffer with a child - believed to be his son - has a long message from Kitchens which indicates difficulties between them, but also a great deal of affection.
