Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has notoriously launched a bloody crusade against drug dealers, and even compared himself to Hitler.
The controversial figure also made vulgar remarks against US President Barack Obama, calling him a "son of whore" when he criticised the frowned upon War on Drugs.
Now, reckless leader Mr Duterte is launching a charm offensive in China. He seems to be in love with the country, saying it deserves respect, and is the only superpower that can help the Philippines.
The 71-year-old has even abandoned all ties to the US in the process, saying "they've lost him". This has baffled the US, who currently has five air bases in the Philippines, and Mr Obama's administration is seeking an explanation.
But what is China offering? For starters, it's providing cheap loans, infrastructure. Businesses are flocking to construct rehab centres.
There is also the South China Sea dispute, which both China and the Philippines have agreed to resolve bitter differences over.
Considering Duterte has only been in power since June, he's certainly got world leaders shaking in their boots.
