A teenage girl trapped underneath a truck in China has been rescued after passers-by ran to help her.

She had been riding her bike in Bozhou City, in east China, when she crashed into a truck and was dragged underneath it.

The driver got out to help and people nearby raced to the rescue, lifting the truck off of her body.

A local traffic officer says they're delighted to see there are so many Good Samaritans in the world.

"After the accident, we saw the surveillance video and found that it took less than a second for many people nearby to run to the truck and lift the vehicle together," he said.

"People did it all by themselves without being organised."

The girl is in a stable condition in hospital and the driver has taken full responsibility for the accident, even covering her medical costs.
