Australia's well-known for its deadly snakes, but decorating your tree with one may be seen as going too far for some.
A Melbourne woman identified as Cheryl had a holiday surprise when she found a tiger snake wrapped around her tree, hanging out with the tinsel.
"She didn't panic, she just took a photo and sent it to the snake catcher," snake catcher Barry Goldsmith wrote in a post on Facebook.
"Twenty minutes later I had the little bugger in a bag."
Mr Goldsmith told ABC News it's the first time in his career, which spans more than 30 years, he's found a snake tangled in the branches of a Christmas tree.
"This is a one-off thing. It's like lightning striking," he said.
The snake was released at a nearby bush property.
