Stunning video has emerged of the controlled demolition of 19 multi-storey apartment blocks in Wuhan, a city in central China.

The entire demolition only takes about 10 seconds, and makes for spectacular footage as the buildings tumble to the ground in an orderly fashion, within seconds of one another.

Five tonnes of explosives were used in the blast, an amount determined to guarantee the destruction of all the apartment buildings, some of which were 12 storeys high.

The general director responsible for heading the demolition said it was highly successful, and hadn't affected any train services or other public facilities.

Once the ruins of the blast are cleared, construction will begin on a brand new business park, which will incorporate a skyscraper measuring 707 metres.
