Sixth victim killed in Bourke Street attack

A sixth victim of the Bourke Street car attack in Melbourne has died in hospital.

The 33-year-old woman died just before 7.30pm on Monday (local time).

Ten days ago a car was driven through the popular shopping street, hitting dozens of pedestrians: 37 victims were hospitalised as a result of the attack.

Other people killed in the attack were three-month-old baby Zachary Bryant, 10-year-old Thalia, Matthew Si (33), Jess Mudie (22) and a 25-year-old Japanese national.

The attack occurred at 1:30pm (local time), when the street was busy with people shopping and taking lunch.  Mr Si had been returning to work after having lunch with his wife when he was struck by the car.

Nine patients remain in hospital, with one person described as in a critical condition.

Police say the driver, Dimitrious Gargasoulas, 26, is facing five murder charges, with additional charges pending.
