A Melbourne man got up close and personal with a 1.5m beached shark yesterday.
Video shows Vincent De Robillard bravely pulling the blue shark by its thrashing tail into deeper waters at St Kilda Beach.
Mr Robillard told 9NEWS the shark appeared ill and out of its comfort zone.
"It looked like it was dying, so grabbed it by the tail, so it couldn't bite me."
It wasn't an uncommon sight in Melbourne on Monday, with Elmwood and St Kilda's beaches both closed for the day after shark sightings near a dinghy earlier on.
The shark is believed to have become stranded again only two hours later.
