Trump's senior White House advisor Kellyanne Conway has been snapped kneeling on the Oval Office sofa with her shoes on.
Photos show Ms Conway with her feet on the couch as President Trump meets with leaders of historically black colleges and universities.
The images have resulted in Ms Conway being accused of being disrespectful by social media users.
"It's hard to believe that Kellyanne Conway would be sitting like this if the President were meeting with the NRA or white evangelicals", tweeted Moorhouse Professor Marc Lamont Hill.
Seinfeld actor Jason Alexander weighed in, saying there are "lots of reasons to call out Kellyanne Conway - but how she sits on a couch? I think that falls under both petty and unfocused."
Others drew comparisons to the behaviour of previous presidents in the Oval Office.
