Runaway bull leads police on slow-speed 4km chase

A bull that somehow escaped from an abattoir in the New York borough of Queens has been captured after a nearly 4km police chase.

The bovine, which has since been caught and taken back to the slaughterhouse, was pursued by members of the New York Police Department after escaping at about 10:30am on Tuesday (local time).

Video of the incident shows the bull escaping down streets with officers in his wake, and escaping many of the police's attempts to corner it.

A post by a user of the FlightRadar app, which tracks the movements of nearby aircraft, gives an indication of the distance the animal covered before it was caught.

The animal was chased for close to 90 minutes before he was finally trapped and tranquilised at an intersection in the suburb of Jamaica.
