An overpass between the Italian towns of Bologna and Taranto has collapsed onto a motorway, crushing a married couple and injuring three construction workers.
The couple, 60-year-old Eimidio 'Mimmo' Diomedi and Antonella Viviani, 54, were killed instantly as the falling bridge landed on top of their vehicle.
Police say two construction workers were also injured in the overpass collapse and are now receiving treatment at Ancona Hospital.
They explained the bridge collapsed when a temporary support structure gave out during construction work being done to widen it.
The collapse will be investigated, police say.
The motorway underneath the overpass was closed in both directions.
