A Japanese man who owned a six-tonne porn collection has died after it collapsed on top of him.

The body of the dead man, a former car-maker who has only been identified only as Joji, was found six months later when the landlord went to investigate his unpaid rent, reports The Daily Mail.

Investigations into the death are continuing, as it's unclear whether he had a heart attack and fell into the giant stack of magazines, or was crushed after the pile fell on top of him.

A member of the cleaning team told the Mail their company had been hired to remove the magazines discreetly, to save the man's family from shame.

The cleaner said the flat was filled with piles of erotic magazines and clippings from his favourite features.

Despite the man's efforts to trim down his collection however, at the time of his death the stack weighed in at six tonnes, or 6000 kilograms.
