A pro-Nazi father in the US has filed paperwork to officially change his last name to Hitler.

Isidore Heath Campbell made headlines in 2008 when he asked a local store to bake a cake with the words "Happy Birthday, Adolf Hitler" on it for his son.

He then starred in the 2014 documentary Meet the Hitlers, about people around the world who share the name Hitler.

"My son is Adolf Hitler Campbell," he said in the film's trailer. "I named him - big deal."

Now, it appears he wants to take his admiration one step further. A hearing has been scheduled for Mr Campbell on March 24 in Hunterdon County, according to court documents.

Mr Campbell is chronically unemployed, and is the leader and founder of the pro-Nazi group Hitler's Order.

He has previously lost custody of his children - who include Heinrich Hons Campbell, Adolf Hitler Campbell, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honzlynn Jeannie Campbell.
