A former Disney sculptor who reached out to the internet in the hopes of crowd-funding the mass-production of Donald Trump troll dolls has hit a wall.
Chuck Williams raised more than NZ$230,000 from 3621 donors on his Kickstarter page.
However, NBC Universal has halted the production temporarily with a legal dispute over the troll's resemblance to DreamWorks Animation's Trolls movie and characters.
The Kickstarter page is no longer accepting donations and now has a statement regarding the legal dispute.
Despite the legal set-back he has high hopes that his troll dolls will roll out into production soon.
"With the help of my top notch legal team I have responded to the dispute on Kickstarter," he says.
"I can't thank you enough!!! Now we wait for a response."
According to the NY Daily News, Mr Williams says he only need needed a little over $54,000 so the initial response from donors took him by surprise.
"The response has taken me a little by surprise! I am very grateful to have made so many people happy with this sculpture," he says.
"This figure is near and dear to me and thankfully it seems to have brought a smile to all sides of the political spectrum."
