TV reporter attacked while reporting on New York crime

An American TV journalist reporting live on crime quickly became another statistic when he was brutally attacked on camera.

Reporter CeFaan Kim was doing a live cross in New York when he was interrupted and the encounter quickly turned violent.

The man, wearing a Jason-style horror movie hockey mask, started a seemingly friendly interaction with a friendly gesture.

The camera panned off the intruder and Mr Kim, but when it came back the ABC reporter was on the receiving end of a thrown arm that was wrapped around his shoulders only seconds before.

One punch was not enough for the anonymous crim, who clearly thought the disguise affected his ability to fight; he whipped his mask off on television, revealing himself to hundreds.

Police are still looking for the man, but thanks to video, they can look at him as many times as they like.
