Woman rolls out of boot in attempted kidnapping

Security cam footage of a failed kidnapping has emerged from the US, the victim escaping from a car boot as the suspect drives away.

The attempted kidnapping and robbery in Birmingham, Alabama left the 25-year-old woman with minor injuries.

Police told news site al.com the suspect pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money, outside her apartment around 10:30pm Tuesday (local time). When the victim said she didn't have any money, the suspect forced her into her black Nissan Altima. Later, he made her move to the trunk of the car.

The suspect drove her to multiple unknown locations. Police believe he was using her card to get cash from ATMs.

The victim was able to escape at a gas station - when the suspect began to drive off, she managed to open the trunk and jump out. 

She used the gas station owner's phone to call her family, and police arrived shortly after. The owner said the victim had a few cuts, and was taken to a nearby hospital by a relative.

The car was located Wednesday morning. No suspects have been arrested.
