A US man on drug possession charges arrived at court with weed in his pocket (file)

A US man charged with drug possession has been sentenced after turning up to court with weed in his pocket.

Khaleef Chiles was arrested on third-degree possession of LSD and marijuana, and was ordered to appear before the New Jersey court.

However he jumped bail and failed to show up.

When he finally turned himself in, he was taken into custody and searched. The marijuana was then discovered in one of his pockets.

Chiles plead guilty to third-degree bail-jumping on Friday (local time), and the state agreed to drop the drug charges. He will be sentenced to probation and drug counselling.
