Alleged Aussie smuggler seen dancing in Colombian prison

Video has emerged of an Australian traveller dancing and appearing to be in high spirits despite being behind bars in Colombia.

Cassandra Sainsbury, 22, was at El Dorado International Airport in Bogota on April 11 when she saw some headphones and decided to buy them as gifts for family and friends back home, according to reports.

A man showing her around told her he could get them cheaper, and gave her a concealed package that turned out to contain 5.8kg of cocaine.

Sainsbury was arrested and denied bail, and is reportedly being kept in an overcrowded prison until her bail hearing and if convicted, she faces 25 years in prison.

In the video she can be seen on the balcony outside her cell at El Buen Pastor Prison wearing blue jeans and a pink top, waving and smiling.

The video was taken during inspection time at the prison where the cells are searched for drugs.

A fellow prisoner can also be seen holding up a sign next to Sainsbury which translate to "Cassandra asks for immediate release," according to the Courier Mail.

A crowdfunding campaign to fight for her freedom has raised more than NZ$4500.
