Thirteen people have been killed and another 24 wounded after a car bomb exploded outside a popular ice cream shop in central Baghdad.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the blast, which hit just after midnight on Tuesday (local time).

Iraqi officials said it appears there were explosives inside a parked car, which was detonated remotely.

CCTV footage from a nearby building shows a fireball burst and light up the sky after the bomb exploded.

At the time, families had been gathering after breaking their daily fast, part of the holy month of Ramadan.
