A new study purports to have found humans split from apes in Europe, not Africa. 

Most experts believe homo sapiens evolved from central Africa seven million years ago. 

But now scientists have a new hypothesis. 

So has history been rewritten? 

Auckland University Palaeontologist Kathy Campbell spoke to Duncan Garner.
