A Brazilian teenager has drawn outrage after she put her guinea pig in a microwave and posted the footage online.
Sixteen-year-old Vitoria Muller filmed the cruel video, which she posted to her Twitter account - allegedly under pressure from her friends, who thought it was funny.
However she received a backlash for her actions that was so strong she was forced to delete all her social media profiles - and her father also reported her to police after learning of her actions.
The gruesome footage showed Ms Muller inserting the guinea pig into the microwave, before turning it on. The animal appears to be fine at first - but after about three seconds it starts to contort, clearly writhing in pain. The video stops just moments later.
Ms Muller has now apologised to police for the abusive act, and was also made to explain the rationale behind it.
Her father posted on social media, saying he had "already punished her for her bad behaviour".
"The animal is fine and in the name of all my family we apologise," he said.
"We all take care of animals in this house and we would never let something like this happen. We apologise again for all that happened."
Animal welfare organisation has now seized the guinea pig, and transferred it to a vet clinic where it was deemed the animal was fine.
