Chilling footage shows rescue of kidnapped rape victim

Video footage of the unsettling moment a South Carolina sex offender's victim was discovered chained up at the back of a shipping container has been released by the solicitor's office.

Kala Brown, 30, went missing in August 2016 with her boyfriend Charles Carver, 32, and was discovered in the container on a 100-acre property in the town of Woodruff in November.

Ms Brown had been abducted by serial killer Todd Kohlhepp, 46, who later admitted to murdering seven people - including Mr Carver, who he had shot dead.

Kohlhepp pleaded guilty to seven counts of murder, four counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, two counts of kidnapping and one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was sentenced to 60 years' jail two weeks ago.

However, footage of Ms Brown's rescue has now been released, showing police cutting into a container with an electric saw after hearing her screaming. They break open the door and immediately find her in the back corner.

She is startled at first, not responding to any of their questions or assurances that she'll be alright - but soon after she lets loose with a barrage of information.

"Todd Kohlhepp shot Charlie Carver three times in the chest, wrapped him in a blue trap, put him in the bucket of the tractor, locked me down here. I've never seen him again," she explained.

"He says he's dead and buried. He says there are several bodies dead and buried out here and he says that the dogs will be ruined if they go looking, because there's red pepper."

Ms Brown had been kept in the container as something of a sex slave, with the count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct coming after repeated rapes by Kohlhepp.

Since her rescue, Ms Brown has been given space to heal and become "physically and mentally fine", according to police.

Last month she was interviewed on Dr. Phil about her experiences.
