A man parked outside a convenience store in the US tried to lure kids into his car using fidget spinners and snacks, according to reports.

The New Jersey man was offering to buy children the goods at Quick Check in New Jersey, but employees at the store intervened and told police.

Staff told ABC News they hadn't seen the man before, but had assumed that the children were with him.

"We didn't think anything of it until the kids started to look a little nervous and ran up to the girl at the register," says store manager Jeanine Karycinski.

"He purchased some items for them and handed them the bag, forced the bag on them, then told them to follow them to his car because he had spinners and a baseball cap."

The children hid in her office while they told the man to leave the store.

Police are now searching for the suspect and are hopeful that they'll find him, as he was captured in his vehicle on surveillance footage.
