Eight people have been injured after a series of shootings at Myrtle Beach, US, early on Sunday morning (local time).

One of the shootings was livestreamed on Facebook by Bubba Hinson, who was staying at a hotel nearby. He told local media he started filming because he thought the people massing in the street were dancing.

"Then they started fighting. Then, they started shooting," he said.

In the video, the crowd of people can be seen turning into a fight. A group stand clustered in one area when one man pulls a gun from him pants and begins firing.

It quickly turns to panic, those on the street scattering and the shouting turns to screaming.

One man in a uniform gets shot, leading Mr Hinson to start shouting in terror: "Officer down, officer down!"

The gunman steals a car and flees, but was apprehended after being shot by an armed security guard.

Seven people, including the gunman, have been hospitalised after the shooting. None of the injuries are life-threatening, according to Myrtle Beach police.

It was the third reported shooting within 12 hours in the area, after one person was found injured with a gunshot wound at a local mall. A second shooting was reported around 10 minutes later but no victims were found.

Local police don't believe the three shootings are connected.
