An American teacher's aide has been charged with raping a 15-year-old special needs student in New York Central park.
Allegations against Alexandra Culhane, 24, came to light last year when her colleagues learned of her sexual encounter with the teenager.
After a months-long investigation Culhane was taken into custody on Monday.
Evidence gathered by police suggests Culhane met the victim while he was enrolled at the school, and took him to the park nearby where the offending took place last April.
A spokesperson for the school district told media Culhane was a seasonal employee, not a full-time staffer, and that they received no complaints about her conduct.
