Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has had a baby named after him, after the child's parents fled their war-torn country to Canada.

Afraa Hajj Hammoud and Mohammed Belal fled Syria in 2016 and now call the Canadian city of Calgary home, CBC reports.

When their son was born in May this year the couple named him Justin-Trudeau Adam Bilal, which they said was their way of thanking the Prime Minister for welcoming them to the country.

When Mr Trudeau was in Calgary on Saturday, his photographer, Adam Scotti, snapped photos of moment the two Justin Trudeaus met.

It's a common Arabic tradition to name a child after a person with good character, Ahmed Doso explained to CBC News last year.

"For me he is wonderful and compassionate. I hope all leaders, whether Easterners or Westerners, would be like him."

The photos all pretty much prompt this face.
