For the second time this week, an Uber driver in Australia has been accused of raping a teenage passenger.

The 37-year-old man, accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in his car on July 8, has been denied bail.

The man arrived in Brisbane one year ago with his wife and two young kids. He was arrested by Queensland Police on Friday.

It comes one week after a 47-year-old driver was charged with raping a young passenger three times. Police say the two incidents are not thought to be related.

"Having said that, police will make an appeal to members of the public that have over the last 12 to 18 months experienced any type of criminal offence of this nature to please come forward," Detective Superintendent Mick O'Dowd said.
