A woman and unborn child has died at a shooting at a gender reveal party for an expectant mother in Ohio.

Authorities reported that two gunmen opened fire at the party and killed a woman, and wounded eight people, including the mother-to-be, and three children.

The woman later told television station WXIX-TV that she lost her baby after being shot in the leg.

The incident occurred on Sunday night (NZ time) in Colerain Township, near Cincinnati, Ohio.

The wounded children were hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries.

The five adults wounded were treated at a Cincinnati hospital, where one is in a critical condition.

Police are still searching for the black-clad gunmen, who broke into the home while party-goers were watching a movie.

The Associated Press reported witnesses saw the gunmen run down the street afterward.

A Colerain Township police spokesman said the motive for the gunfire was unknown.
