Four out of 10  people in the UK wouldn't consider it cheating if they had sex with a robot, a survey has revealed.

However, one in three Brits said they would be "horrified" if one of their friends started seeing a robot, with 16 percent claiming they'd intervene in the relationship.

The sex robot survey was commissioned by UK online streaming service, Now TV, in relation to television show Westworld, in which people can visit a futuristic amusement park to live out their illicit fantasies.

The survey found that more than one in three people in the UK would consider having sex with a robot.

Thirty-nine percent think humans will be having relationships with robots by 2050.

Seventy-nine percent believe it would be ethically wrong to harm a robot.

Sheffield University's Professor Noel Sharkey said robots will increasingly join sex dolls in the porn industry in the near future.

This comes after sex doll firm Lumidolls announced plans to open a sex doll brothel in the UK.
