Around 50 firefighters have battled a giant fire which engulfed a Brisbane shopping mall on Saturday morning.

The building in the Inala Civic Centre went up in flames at around 1:00am.

Firefighters took around four hours to control the fire, a difficult job with the intense heat.

"A fair portion of the roof has collapsed, which has further inhibited our attack on the fire, and also affected the structural integrity of the building," Acting Inspector Tim Clark told ABC News.

Fire investigators are still looking into the cause of the blaze.
