An Australian father has pleaded guilty to importing child sex dolls, that are made to look like girls as young as six years old.

Hayden Cole entered guilty pleas to two attempts to import the prohibited goods at Perth's Magistrate's court on Friday.

It's an offence to possess or seek to posses a child sex doll because they are considered to be child exploitation material.

The 40-year-old ordered the dolls over the internet and they were intercepted at the border, PerthNow reports.

Mr Cole is due to reappear in court in October.

The Australian Border Force has seized at least 18 shipments of child sex dolls since 2013.

The United Kingdom's National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) have called for the dolls to be criminalised, and refute claims that they could be used to treat paedophiles.

Instead, the charity claims that the dolls normalise pedophilic behaviour and users could then go on to harm children.
