Queen preparing to hand power to Charles - report

Queen Elizabeth II has said she'd never abdicate the throne - but it seems she doesn't wants the job forever.

Plans are being made to give Prince Charles full power to reign, reports the Daily Mail.

The Queen, now 92, is allegedly preparing to enact the Regency Act if she is still on the throne at the age of 95. This would give her eldest son, Prince Charles, full power to reign - but she'd still be Queen.

Charles has already been filling in for the Queen on foreign trips, including a visit to Canada earlier this year.

One senior former member of the Royal Household said: "Her Majesty is mindful of her age and wants to make sure when the time comes, the transition of the Crown is seamless."

The report comes after Prince Philip, 96, resigned as the Duke of Edinburgh last month.
