A Florida mother has been arrested after luring a teenager into the woods to be killed after he allegedly raped her six-year-old daughter.
Connie Serbu faces a murder charge over the death of 18-year-old Xavier Sierra. She told police her daughter told her about the rape in 2016, several years after it allegedly happened.
According to police, Serbu lured Mr Sierra into a forest in Naples, Florida, along with her own 29-year-old intellectually disabled brother John Vargas, two guns, two stun guns, a potato to use as a silencer, an ice pick, plastic gloves and paper towels, Naples Daily News reports.
There she confronted Mr Sierra, accusing him of raping her daughter.
Mr Sierra attempted to flee, but was chased down by Serbu and Mr Vargas. The two men fought over the weapons, and Mr Sierra was shot six times. Mr Vargas was shot once in the abdomen and died later.
She then called the police, reportedly telling officers: "So I don't care, he raped my daughter, I don't care, he sodomised my daughter... she told me everything that happened."
When police arrived, they discovered Mr Sierra's body, with Mr Vargas' body nearby.
"The arrest brings up a lot of old emotions," Zachary Rodriguez, a friend of Mr Sierra, told Naples Daily News.
"But it also brings a big weight off my chest and helps me take a deep breath," he said. "Things are taking a step in the right direction, and it feels good to know justice is being served."
