Sports fans from Houston have banded together to return a hat to its owner.

During the World Series parade in Texas, a woman dropped her hat from high up in a parking lot.

The crowd worked to get the hat back to her, throwing it up the parking lot level by level.

In a brief video posted to Twitter, fans are shown cheering in excitement as the hat is tossed up each floor.

Just as the hat is about to reach her, it falls back down near the bottom, but fans immediately attempt the climb again.

The crowd goes wild as the hat eventually makes its way to its owner, with many chanting 'MVP' (most valuable player).

"Watching people return this dropped hat at the parade today was unreasonably thrilling," said Twitter user Josh Pherigo.

The fans had been watching the Houston Astros celebratory parade in Houston, Texas after their team beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.
