The US Treasury Secretary received an unusual and unwelcome present this Christmas, sparking a security scare in his wealthy Los Angeles neighbourhood.
After Steven Munchin received a suspicious package at his Bel Air mansion this weekend, the Secret Service and a bomb squad arrived, fearing a possible explosive, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Helicopter footage has emerged of the package being investigated police, who quickly diffused the situation, once it was found the package was more manure.
The faecal packages came with a handwritten note reading: "We're returning the 'gift' of the Christmas tax bill. It's b******* ... Warmest Wishes, The American People."
Steven Mnuchin has come under criticism for his role in drafting the Republican Party's recently approved Tax Bill, which provides more than a trillion dollars in tax cuts and arguably mainly benefits the already wealthy.
The package was sent by Robby Strong, who documented the whole adventure on Facebook, brazenly telling social media that he was "going to hand deliver boxes of horse shit to Steve Mnuchin over in Beverly Hills. Because if money is free speech, so is horse shit".
Mr Strong doesn't seem afraid of legal repercussions, as he told Al.Com: "Is it illegal to drop off a box of poo? Not really."
