An object allegedly filmed flying through the Russian night sky is being called the "best evidence ever" of UFOs by conspiracy theorists.

The video was uploaded to YouTube over the weekend and shows three flickering lights moving through the night sky in a triangular shape.

According to the uploaders YouTube page, UFO today, the footage was originally posted to the 'dark web' before surfacing online.

UFO today claims the UFO is a "category TR-3B" and the mystery object certainly seems to the fit the spotters' criteria: "Reports generally describe this class of UFO as large, silent, black triangular objects hovering or slowly cruising at low altitudes over cities and highways. Sightings usually take place at night."

The spotters claim the object is too slow to be classic airplane, with the video's caption stating: "The speed at which this object was moving is physically impossible for any airplane built by mankind."

However not everyone is convinced, and at least one expert thinks there may be a much simpler explanation for the flying phenomenon.

Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, told MailOnline: "At night it is hard to gauge the distance and size of an object or lights, which in turn makes it difficult to judge their speed."

"As this seems to be flying slower than an aircraft I'd say it is a drone with lights on it."

Seems we might be waiting a little longer for our first interstellar visitor.
