An Australian pensioner is devastated after accidentally running over his wife of 50 years on their driveway.
Graham Kennewell, 91, was reversing his wife Freda's car in Williamstown, South Australia, when he hit her, 7 News reported.
Freda, 83, died at the scene, leaving her husband devastated according to their son-in-law Michael Lange.
"He has lost the love of his life," Mr Lange told 7 News.
"Somehow or other he's got disoriented and not knowing where he was and unfortunately, she was somewhere behind the car," he said.
Neighbours rushed to the scene and jacked up the car, pulling Freda out but were unable to save her.
"Basically, we had her out and my brother-in-law started CPR while we waited for the ambulance," neighbour Jerry Hackett told 7 News.
The couple had only just moved in to the home. Mr Lange said the tragedy struck as the family had started to gather there for the Christmas holiday.
"She was a lovely person, she was always unbelievable just cannot believe what's taken place," he said.
Police are investigating.
