An emotional support peacock has been forced to keep both feet firmly on the ground after he was denied access to a flight his owner booked him a seat on.
The Associated Press reports Dexter the Peacock had been booked on a cross country trip from New Jersey to LA via United Airlines by his owner before being turned away at the check in desk.
According to the airline Dexter didn't meet the criteria to travel for several reasons including, size and weight.
A spokesperson told the Associated Press his owner had been informed of this three times "before they arrived at the airport".
His owner, New York City based performance artist and photographer Ventiko says she will now be driving him across the country with her friends.
A post on his Instagram account says they spent six hours trying to get on board the flight before giving up and eventually resorting to the road trip.
