Home and Away actress Jessica Falkholt's life support has been turned off after she was critically injured in a horror crash.

Ms Falkholt, 28, remains fighting for her life in Sydney's St George Hospital after the accident. While she has undergone several surgeries, she remains in a coma.

She had worked on the Australian soap, where she played Hope. She's also had roles on other television dramas.

Her parents were killed in the Boxing Day crash in New South Wales, which also left her sister with fatal injuries.

Police believe the crash occurred when a large vehicle crossed the centre line and crashed head on with the Falkholt family's car.

Ms Falkholt and her sister Annabelle were pulled from the crash, as the vehicles went up in flames, but her parents died in the burning car, along with the 4WD's driver. Annabelle, 21, passed away three days after the accident.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Australian media are describing the driver of the other vehicle as a "serial traffic offender" who was driving back from a methadone clinic when he collided with the Falkholts' car.
