No, Donald Trump does not have a nuclear button

Donald Trump invoked Twitter panic after proclaiming his "nuclear button" was "much bigger" than North Korea leader Kim Jong-un's.

"North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the 'Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times'," the United States president said on Twitter on Tuesday.

"Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!"

But no - Mr Trump has no such button.

What he does have is something called the 'nuclear football' - a briefcase which follows him everywhere containing instructions on how to launch a nuclear attack.

The high-security briefcase is aluminium, airtight and covered in leather. Carrying the case is a job shared between five military aides.

It is unclear whether Jong-un has such a briefcase, or how big it is.

Mr Trump does, however, have a much less sinister red button on his desk.

Last year he explained to reporters if he pushes it, someone will bring him a coke.
