A strong earthquake has rocked Peru, killing two people.

The magnitude 7.1 tremor struck off the southern coast in the early morning, on the coast just south of Lima.

One man reportedly died after being crushed by rock.

At least 65 are injured. It was initially reported 17 were missing in a collapsed mine, but the BBC reports this has been ruled out.

Power is out and adobe houses have collapsed in a number of areas.
