An Australian woman has been delivered a hefty fine after parking momentarily outside a charity shop while she dropped off a clothing donation.

Victoria resident Carol Glavich parked outside the Williamstown op shop so she could carry the clothes from the boot of her car inside the charity store.

A few days later she received a NZD$174 fine in the mail along with photos of her car.

"I was in and out in five minutes," she told radio station 3AW.

Ms Glavich even asked the shopkeeper if she was allowed to park there.

She says she was told as long as she kept her boot open and it was obvious she was dropping off donations, it would be fine.

"I sent a lengthy email to the council contesting this but have today received another merciless bureaucratic letter saying I have to pay!!" Ms Glavich wrote in a Facebook post.
