An entire family has been kicked off a cruise ship in Melbourne after days of alleged threatening behaviour to other passengers erupted into a full-blown brawl.

Footage shows the 'Legend' ship's crew trying to stop the punch-up, which involved several passengers, on Friday morning.

The ship docked at Melbourne in an unscheduled stop later that day, removing 23 passengers.

Carnival Cruise Lines has confirmed the family group had been involved in "violent and disruptive acts", although it is unclear what exactly started the tussle.

It left some passengers were too afraid to leave their rooms, 3AWRadio reports.

After the story broke another video emerged - reportedly involving the same family - of a poolside scuffle a day before they were kicked off. Crewmembers can be seen trying to break up the fight as the brawlers scream and swear at each other.

As many as 30 people have been injured in the fights, 3AWRadio reports.
