An illegal immigrant who has been convicted of killing two US police officers has vowed to kill more.
Luis Bracamontes smiled at one of the officer's widows and said "yay" as the jury found him guilty of slaying two police officers in Sacremento in October 2014.
"I'm gonna kill more cops soon," he said as he was led out of the courtroom according to the Sacremento Bee.
Bracamontes is eligible for the death penalty, and the jury will reconvene on March 5 to determine whether he should be executed.
His defence has argued that he is mentally ill, and was under the influence of methamphetamine on the day of the murders, according to the Sacramento Bee.
His wife, also an illegal immigrant from Mexico, is also on trial before a separate jury for being his accomplice in the murders.
Bracamontes shot and killed Sacramento sheriff deputy Danny Oliver and detective Michael Davis Jr with an AR-15 semiautomaitc rifle.
Over the past three years, he has repeatedly told courtrooms that he wanted to kill more police officers and wanted to be executed.
He has also directed a series of outbursts including racist insults at members of the jury.
