Rihanna's new body-positive lingerie collection has been released, and stores can't keep it on the shelves.

Fans had been waiting since April for the new line, Savage x Fenty, and it's been met with praise for offering sizes and colours for all body shapes and skin tones.

The star says she wants her new collection of 90 different pieces of lingerie, sleepwear and loungewear to empower women.

"As women, we're looked at as the needy ones, the naggy ones, the ones who are going to be heartbroken in a relationship. Savage is just the reverse. And you know, guys don't like getting the cards flipped on them ever," she told The Guardian.

The campaign for her new line also includes a diverse group of models, including plus-sized models Audrey Ritchie and Slick Woods.

"I can only hope to encourage confidence and strength by showing lingerie in another light", she told US Vogue.

Prices range from NZ$40 to NZ$100 for a bra and NZ$24 to NZ$50 for underwear.

For super fans of Rihanna, there is a special membership programme which costs NZ$50 a year - subscribers can get access to early launches and shop for limited edition items.

Rihanna's first fashion collaboration in 2016 with Puma generated US$1.4 billion for the brand.
